Holistic Sustainability

The primary purpose of the Umny organization is to develop research, tools, and communication that address housing/energy needs of those that are historically underserved. While also contributing our skills to technology that mitigates the negative environmental impacts in extreme and changing climates.

Beyond scientists and programmers, we are farmers and nature lovers. All of our work comes from a deeply held value for the natural world around us. We generate research on natural systems that have previously been understudied – believing that by improving our understanding of nature, we can build systems that work better with it,

Continuous Learning

We do this work because we genuinely enjoy the challenges and opportunities to grow individually and as a group. Our passion for continuous learning builds collective curiosity, and an openness to information from all sources. From scientific to traditional knowledge, we know there is always more to know.

Our hope is to show respect for our many teachers, and to encourage each other to feel included to contribute to building technology of the future regardless of our backgrounds, or identities.

Message from our founders:

From our time spent living in the Amazon rainforest, Mediterranean coast, and Canadian arctic, we have learned a great deal about the importance of the diversity in our climates and cultures across the world.

Our careers have been shaped from our experiences with global inequalities, natural destruction, and housing insecurity. We founded Umny Inc. to contribute our efforts towards solving these issues.

Specifically, we aim to reduce poverty, gender inequality, and energy/housing insecurities at home and across the world. We want to offer people an engaging, rewarding, and fair place to work at Umny, where they will be inspired to address issues that are personal to us all. Our goal is to make advanced technology more accessible so that more communities and indigenous nations can establish their own climate resilience, economic freedom, and self-determination.
